Porthcawl Lions business and activities/welfare club meetings are held at the Seabank Hotel on the first two Tuesday of each month , all at 8pm. Visitors and  people wishing  to consider being  members are welcome to attend any or all of these meetings. There is, of course, no commitment (on either side)

The business meeting normally follows normal structures with minutes although there is an element of informality with good banter and humour. The respective welfare and fundraising Chairmen run the activities/welfare meeting. The welfare side deals mainly with requests for donations from various local and national charities and also with any local requests. The activities Chairman deals with fund raising and there are usually sub committees dealing the Mayfayre and the Xmas Grotto.

The Porthcawl Lions Club was formed in September 1980; initially Bridgend Lions Club formed the club as an extension. From the clubs formation we have kept in touch with our Mother Club. Since 1980 the club has raised about £200,000   for various charities. The club aims to give around 75% of the money it raises to local charities and the remainder going to national and international appeals. Apart from raising money, the club also aims to provide a service to the local community for example we organise the car parking at the Rest Home Car Boot Sales during the period April to October each year (which is, in addition a useful source of income from voluntary donations). The main fund raising events are the May Fayre, held at the Rest Home on the first Monday in May, the Father Christmas Grotto held in John Street. . Other events are book sales  in john street., The Lions are simply a group of people who, although working hard at fund raising events, set out to have an enjoyable time. There is a good deal of good natured banter at club meetings and a wide variety of social events ranging from formal dinner dances to a quite (and sometimes not so quiet!) pint down the local.
